Manca sempre meno all’edizione 2019 del Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) di Roma, quindi anno nuovo testimonianza nuova! Dopo l’intervista a Eleonora di Giuseppe (cfr: https://dattiallippica.com/2018/08/03/eleonora-di-giuseppe-una-vita-per-i-cavalli-da-piazza-di-siena-al-global/), responsabile di aver portato la “Formula 1 dell’equitazione” nella capitale, «DATTI ALL’IPPICA!» ha questa volta deciso di dare voce a Marco Danese. Spesso dietro le quinte e molto riservato, ricopre ormai da nove anni il ruolo di direttore sportivo del più famoso circuito mondiale a cinque stelle di salto ostacoli. Ancora una volta l’eccellenza italiana si distingue all’estero. Marco Danese ha una storia molto interessante, dagli inizi presso l’ISEF, alla FISE fino a diventare il braccio destro di Jan Tops, ideatore del LGCT. Come dichiara lui stesso, è riuscito a trasformare la sua passione per lo sport e in particolare per l’equitazione, in un lavoro. Carriera di successo, ma che è ormai piuttosto totalizzante, il Global a oggi conta infatti ben 19 tappe, immaginate cosa possa voler dire seguirle tutte! Nonostante ciò, Danese affronta gli impegni sempre con molta professionalità ed entusiamo. Si potrebbe pensare che viaggiare tutto l’anno in giro per il mondo sia bellissimo, ma anche stressante! Ebbene no, Marco Danese è famoso per non abbandonare mai il suo stato di calma e tranquillità, tanto che una nostra collega giornalista, Daniela Cursi, l’ha definito “l’uomo più zen del mondo” e sicuramente non a torto. Il nostro intervistato, con un sorriso, conferma che svolgere la sua professione richiede senza dubbio un carattere tenace e molto paziente, capace di confrontarsi e adattarsi alle diverse culture dei paesi che ospitano il circuito, quest’ultimo però è anche l’aspetto più interessante, afferma. Da Shangai a Doha passando per Roma, Danese è un vero poliglotta, posso testimoniare di averlo visto alzare la cornetta e parlare in portoghese, poi girarsi ed esprimersi in inglese e infine rivolgersi alle maestranze in francese! Questo il ritratto di un professionista molto disponibile a confrontarsi con tutti e su tutto, dalle istituzioni, ai giornalisti, all’ultimo degli operai addetto a piastrellare gli ambienti di servizio del Global: è senza dubbio colui che conosce e segue il LGCT a 360 gradi, senza mai tralasciare alcun aspetto.

Marco Danese: an example of passion that becomes work

The Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) in Rome is just a few weeks away: new edition, new testimony! After the interview with Eleonora di Giuseppe (see: https://dattiallippica.com/2018/08/03/eleonora-di-giuseppe-una-vita-per-i-cavalli-da-piazza-di-siena-al-global/), that brought the ‘Formula 1 of equitation’ in the Italian capital, this time «DATTI ALL’IPPICA!» meets Marco Danese. Often behind the scenes and very reserved, since nine year he is the sports director of the most famous five-star show-jumping circuit in the world. Once again Italian excellence stands out in the international scene. Marco Danese has a very interesting story: from his beginnings at the ISEF through the outstanding experience at FISE, he became the right-hand man of Jan Tops, creator of LGCT. As he declares, he succeeded in transforming his passion for sport and in particular for horses into a job. Successful career, by now quite totalizing; the LGCT, in fact, has nowadays 19 stages, imagine what an undertaking could be to coordinate them all! Despite this, Danese always faces commitments with great professionalism and enthusiasm. Traveling for the whole year around the world is very beautiful, but it could be also very stressful! Well, not for Marco Danese. He is famous for never loosing his calm and tranquility, so much so that one of our fellow journalist, Daniela Cursi, defined him “the most zen man in the world” and certainly she was not wrong. Our interviewee, with a smile, confirms that carrying out his profession undoubtedly requires a tenacious and very patient character, and the capability of adapting his mind to the different cultures of the countries that host the circuit, but he considers this latter also one of most interesting aspect of his job. From Doha to Shanghai and to Rome, Marco Danese shows is polyglotism: I have seen personally him picking up the phone and speak in Portuguese, turning around and speaking English and finally addressing the workers in French! This is the portrait of a professional who is capable to interface smoothly with everyone about everything, from institutions, to journalists, to the last of the workers assigned to tiling the service areas of the Global. He is undoubtedly the one who knows and follows the LGCT at 360 degrees without ever leaving out any aspect.
