Squadra a cinque, penserete… calcetto? No, dressage! Il capitano è Pierluigi Sangiorgi, cavaliere italiano che ha rappresentato il tricolore ai massimi livelli sino a prendere parte alle Olimpiadi di Pechino 2008. Un traguardo che viene da lontano. Colpevole il padre, appassionato di allevamento e uno dei primi a importare pony in Italia, ma galeotta una fiera, in cui, un piccolo Pierluigi volle comprare a tutti i costi uno di quei minicavalli di cui si era innamorato, nonostante avesse l’itterizia. Con lui, poco tempo dopo, il giovane cavaliere vinse i Campionati Italiani di dressage. Una passione innata, ma che già preannunciava una vita insieme ai cavalli.
Pierluigi Sangiorgi ha provato e ha vinto di tutto: nel completo, nel salto ostacoli e nel dressage, ma per quest’ultimo ha sempre mostrato una certa predilezione, così compiuti 21 anni ha deciso di dedicarsi totalmente a questa disciplina che rappresenta la base per un buon lavoro e andrebbe riscoperta per assaporare il piacere di ottenere un controllo perfetto del binomio. Ciò richiede tempo e fatica, soprattutto quando bisogna rapportarsi con un cavallo dal carattere difficile, ma può donare immense soddisfazioni. Saper gestire se stessi e le proprie emozioni, infatti, non è solo utile nello sport, ma nella vita e questo è sicuramente un insegnamento che il dressage può donare. Ad oggi però questa specialità, in Italia, non è molto in voga fra i giovani, ma sembrano non darla vinta alle statistiche i tre figli di Pierluigi, Francesco 24 anni e i gemelli Caterina e Andrea di 16, per loro “il babbo” è un vero punto di riferimento umano e sportivo. Chissà se un giorno li vedremo nel rettangolo a rappresentare l’Italia in una competizione a sei cerchi, per il momento sono molto determinati a seguire le orme paterne.
Ma quello che colpisce della famiglia Sangiorgi, oltre alla comune passione per il dressage è l’unione che contraddistingue i cinque. La filosofia del self-made regna sovrana, non solo cavalieri in famiglia, ma all’occorrenza Francesco, assecondando un’altra sua passione, si trasforma in fotografo e la mamma, Maria Ercolini, dietro a un sorriso imbarazzato confessa di nascondere grandi abilità da camionista e fisioterapista, che donna! Non a caso, Pierluigi Sangiorgi nel citare le persone a cui deve i suoi successi non dimentica mai la moglie, una bella famiglia a cui fa da sfondo una grande storia d’amore. Lo spirito di gruppo dei nostri intervistati non si limita però alle mura domestiche, alcune indiscrezioni rivelano che nella Scuderia Sangiorgi sono frequenti grigliate in gran compagnia! Un clima sicuramente molto gioviale che favorisce anche i più piccoli ad appassionarsi al dressage, Pierluigi Sangiorgi coltiva infatti, con l’aiuto del figlio maggiore, un vivaio di giovani e da oggi li vedrete impegnati alle Ponyadi 2019.

Sangiorgi team: unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno

Team of five, you’d think … soccer? No, dressage! The captain is Pierluigi Sangiorgi, Italian rider who represented Italy at the highest levels, up to the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008. A achievement that comes from far away. Certainly “his father’s fault”, involved in breeding and one of the first to import ponies in Italy. However was a fair to be decisive: a little Pierluigi got in love and wanted to buy at any cost one of those mini-horses despite he was jaundiced. With him, in a short while, the young rider won the Italian Dressage Championships. An innate passion, but that already heralded a life together with horses.
The young Pierluigi worked hard and won everything: in the eventing, in show jumping and in dressage, but it was for the latter that he always showed a fondness, so when he was 21 years old, he decided to devote himself totally to this discipline. Nowadays dressage, in Italy, is not very popular among young people, but it represents the basis for a good job with horses and should be rediscovered to appreciate the pleasure of obtaining a perfect control of the binomial. It requires a lot of time and efforts, especially when you have to deal with a temperamental horse, but it can really pay back. Being able to manage himself and his own emotions, in fact, is not only useful in sport competition, but also for the life and dressage can certainly help with it. The three sons of Pierluigi, Francesco, 24 years old, and the twins Caterina and Andrea, 16 years old, however, unlike their peers do not seem to let statistics win and got involved in dressage: their father is a true human and sporting point of reference. Who knows if sometime we will see them in the rectangle representing Italy at the Olympic games … for the moment they are very determined to follow their dad’s footsteps.
What really strikes about the Sangiorgi family, besides the common passion for dressage, however, is the high level of complicity that characterized the five. The self-made philosophy drives all them: not only riders, Francesco if necessary turns into a photographer and his mother, Maria Ercolini, behind an embarrassed smile, confesses to have great abilities as truck driver and physiotherapist, what a woman! Not by chance, Pierluigi Sangiorgi talking about people to which he feels to be grateful for his successes never forgets his wife and his beautiful family, built on a great love story. However, the camaraderie of our interviewees is not confined to the domestic walls, some rumors reveal that in the Scuderia Sangiorgi frequent barbecues glade a great company! A very jovial climate that stimulate even the smallest pupils to get passionate about dressage. Pierluigi Sangiorgi cultivates in fact, with the help of his eldest son, a nursery for young athletes that from today you can follow at the Ponyadi 2019.

All that it lasts now is to get a more in-depth knowledge of our five protagonists, or maybe … six!
